Personal Statement
My Name Is Dorion Meyers and I am in my Senior year at Navasota High School where I was the Center and 3 year letterman for the State and National record setting Navasota Rattlers. Our offense averaged 484 yards and over 50 points per game. As a 5’11” Center I have learned to master the technique, use my speed and properly read the defense. These abilities have literally kept me one step ahead of the defenders. I have learned that my hard work and perseverance and humble attitude not only set me apart from my peers but will carry me to the collegiate level and ultimately make me a successful person. The ability and necessity to adapt and overcome adversity is probably the most important lesson learned through football. I have learned to view obstacles and problems as opportunities so that I may illustrate my abilities by overcoming these obstacles. I have experienced obstacles dealing with coaches and their initial perception of me. I have learned that my size may raise questions or concern. However, once I have displayed my work ethic and technique I continue to lay those concerns to rest, build trust, and produce positive results. My academic goals are just as important if not more important than my athletic goals. Currently I am a member of the National Honor Society with 3.82 GPA, and on track to graduate magna cum laude. I have full intentions of continuing my education and immersing myself not only in your athletic program but in my studies as well. My over goal is to have the sport of football pay for my degree.
