I am a tight end from Concordia Lutheran High School near Houston, Texas, and a well-rounded athlete. In addition to football I lettered academically and in tennis and basketball and I will likely play soccer and run track this year to work on strength, speed and footwork to be applied on the football field. I have excellent hands, and in the two playoff games last season, I caught five passes, three for touchdowns, as the coach was uncharacteristically forced to throw given the game situations. I caught five passes--one for a long touchdown-- in the spring game.
My more important attributes are not obvious from game film or digit-point-digit in the 40. My work ethic is second to none. As one of five siblings, nothing is given to me. Twice a week I am up at 5AM for personal training--not entirely unusual I suppose, but the rest of the week features self-directed workouts along with practices and workouts at school. I am a devout Christian with a strong moral compass. I meet every Thursday morning with a group of football players for breakfast with the school's pastor for weekly devotionals. Twice in my three year high school experience (I will be a senior) I have been President of my class and it is a rare Friday that our home is not also the home to eight or nine teammates who talk trash, swim, play video games and bond as friends and teammates.
Academically, my grades should matter. Concordia Lutheran is an academically competitive school, and I have taken every available AP, honors or dual credit course. At Concordia, AP, Honors and Dual Credit courses can be awarded a 5.0 while numerically, on-grade classes can only get a 4.0. The school does not offer enough above grade classes to achieve a 5.0 so my 4.5 GPA is almost the maximum of 4.7 that a student at the school can achieve.
Concluding, I would be ecstatic to play football at the next level, and even more blessed to receive a coveted degree from an amazing institution. I consider myself a young man of strong character, integrity, moral fiber and work ethic. I will be a great teammate and a terrific ambassador for all the principles for which my future college stands.
