Personal Statement

I have always been a fan of athletics in general. However, with football there is a passion and drive to compete at your very best.  Football is the ultimate team sport hands down.  It has always been my desire to play college football, while obtaining a college degree.  As an all-purpose skills player I most definitely realize that our success as a team depends completely upon each other.  These attributes not only help us as teammates, but as individuals in life.  I have always been taught to be humble, coachable/teachable, and to give it my all in everything that I do.  Each time I set foot upon the football field I know that it is an absolute privilege.  I understand that there are many that have helped me along my journey.  As I look forward to the future, I will continue to live by these attributes that has helped me be successful as a player and as an individual.  Football has helped me gain that foundation not only on the field, but in the classroom as well.  Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully, Mason Obray.

  • "Assessment of Mason Obray" Mason first stood out to me during football try outs of August 2019, primarily for the quickness and speed he displayed during our drills. Upon the completion of the season I had the opportunity to work with Mason to improve his strength, power, quickness, mechanics, and overall athleticism. The following are his functional test scores as of 2/15/20 (Age 14): Vertical Jump: Avg – 22.6”; Max – 23” Broad Jump: Avg – 101.6”; Max – 102.5” Pro Agility/3 cone drill: Avg – 4.3; Quickest – 4.3 Mason Had the best overall numbers of all of his peers that were in his class; Furthermore, he is able to use his athleticism to his advantage during competition exercises or 1-on-1 drills where his peers saw him as the person to beat. The attributes that distinguish Mason from his peers is his coachability, effort with every given exercise/drill, competitiveness, and his natural mechanics and athleticism. These attributes are what will make him successful anywhere on court of field. I fully expect his test numbers and athleticism will continue to improve as he continues to develop and mature. I am confident, with additional training and participation in multiple high school sports, that Mason will be one of the top athletes in Northern Utah in the next couple years and be capable of playing college athletics. I would recommend the utilization of plyometrics and speed training throughout his athletic development to avoid having the elasticity trained out of him with excessive heavy weight lifting.

  • Training during the last three months during my off season from football has been excellent. I continually have improved on my 40 meters partially the explosive speed upon take offs. My top end speed has increased every few months from 19.9 mph to 22 mph. These along with my 40s have all been done with laser measurement to ensure no human error that can be caused by a hand timer. My overall strength continues to improve as I continue proper weight training for Skills Players. Please follow on instagram @luminosity.pt or www.luminositypt.com.
