Moving in 2020 as an 8th grader to Kettle Run High school has thus far proved to be one of the best decisions I and my family have made. We moved due to the lack of football at Manassas Park and as an 8th grade, I was moved from the 8/9 grade team to the JV team for Kettle Run where I excelled and became a leader on the team. I quickly made friends with all my teammates across grades and as a freshman was part of the Varsity team, where I started at linebacker, and we finished as District Champions for the second year in a row. I feel I grew significantly from my 8th to 9th grade year, where we lost our first game and then went on to win nine straight. This experience has helped me even further this year understanding what my coaches and teammates need from me and what I need from them. I personally re-focused after our playoff loss as a freshman and in 2022 I was the starting safety and running for my team. We went 14-1 and lost in the state championship. While I received several district, region and state honors, my teammates and I know we have unfinished business and feel while we are losing some key seniors, that we could be just as good in my junior season.
I learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership my freshman year and sophomore year. I'm looking to continue my growth with Kettle Run and becoming an even bigger leader for my team and searching for a collegiate program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a multi-sport athlete and leader on and onff the field, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader and contributor for your team and program!
My junior season proved to be another good season, where I received 1st Team All-State RB, 1st Team All-Region RB/DB and 1st Team All-District RB/DB Honors. We are looking forward to a great senior season.
My name is Colton Quaker, and I am a student-athlete at Kettle Run High School. I am a dedicated student and an extremely hard worker on and off the field. I take my academics and sports very seriously, especially football where I play running back and a hybrid linebacker/safety. I also am very interested in sports medicine and physical therapy and aspire to work with other athletes in the future. Besides football, I have interests in wrestling, weightlifting and track and field. I am one of the strongest players on my team and I work extremely hard in the weight room to make myself and teammates stronger and faster for the sports we play. I consider myself a team player and leader on my team and try to lead by example. I look forward to engaging in the collegiate process and look forward to meeting and hearing from coaches and players.
