Hello coaches or whoever might be viewing my profile! My name is James (Or Jimmy) Dees. I’m currently a junior at Powell High School in Powell, Wyoming. Last year I decided to return to football and although I was a bit late to the scene , I believe I’ve had some success due to a few factors and am looking to continue playing the sport I’ve grown to love past High school.
I’d like to preface this by saying I don’t want to just be another candidate that lists off a ton of reasons why I might be more qualified than other candidates, though I possess a few traits that I think you as a coach might find important.
My coaches have told me I’m ”coachable,” which is a very vague but important term. I believe a major factor to success -whether it’s on the football field or in the classroom or in other areas of life- is learning and being a student. I don’t view a loss as something negative but rather an opportunity to improve. That way, I don’t make the same mistake twice and can continuously improve. My stats are not necessarily higher or better than some candidates that you may come across, I am by no means a perfect football player. But, I have heart and value self improvement and will always push myself to get better and improve my performance.
If you have any questions about who I am, feel free to reach out if I haven’t already done so. I value coach-athlete relationships and want to get to know who I could potentially play football for. Thank you for reading my mini-essay.
-Jimmy
