Jace Mitchell '20 Recruiting Profile

At the age of 14, I made a decision to charge my full focus on basketball. That decision has led me to advance with my teammates in my senior year to the state basketball tournament. All the early mornings before school in the gym paid off and that decision made years, is left with no regrets. I have become a creative scorer and reliable point guard that my coach can trust to lead my team. 

My dad has played a big role in influencing game mentality during high school, reminding me that hard pays off and it does not get good before it gets bad. His words of encouragement have instilled a sense of perseverance in my approach to the game of basketball.  I've always overcome obstacles placed out in front of me. I battled with heart conditions early on in my high school senior year and managed to come out on top, but only to face the same obstacle in my freshmen year of college.  I sat out the majority of the season for heart conditions but eventually was cleared to get back on the court. I treat every problem as an obstacle rather than a blockade.

I want to attend a college with a great basketball program and one that has a great academic focus.  Education is just as important to me as playing basketball. I know I will be a great addition to your basketball program showing up with a reliable work ethic, an open mind, and a readiness to be a competitive part of your team. 

Every team needs a player that is willing to lead his teammates from the bottom to the top no matter the circumstances and that is the type of leader I am. I am not afraid to go through adversity nor am I afraid to lead my teammates through adversity.
