Personal Statement

John Wooden said, "Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there -- mental, moral, and physical." This is why I want to play basketball at the highest level possible -- to not only be the best possible basketball player, but to develop the courage and discipline required to win in life.
I am described by coaches as very coachable with a high basketball IQ. I am a scoring leader for each team I play for and I am always assigned to shut down the opposing team's most talented player. I am currently playing point for my AAU team, Golden Gate's Finest and the 2/3 position for my high school team.  Click here to see my press coverage for the Game of Week in Bay Area prep sports. Start at :40 mark.  Full Game: SI vs Marin Catholic 12/6/14   Full Game: SI vs Bellarmine 2/21/15
While I have always enjoyed being a stand-out athlete in other sports such as select soccer, All-Star baseball, and track events, I have especially excelled in basketball and that is currently the only sport I practice.
Off the court I've also had to work hard to get what I want. It isn't easy getting accepted to the prestigious St. Ignatius College Preparatory School of San Francisco. As a junior I am currently taking a rigorous schedule: Honors Pre-Calculus, Honors Physics and AP US History. As a senior I am scheduled to take: AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, AP History and Engineering. The University of California system computes my GPA as a 4.0.
I also support my community as a St. Ignatius Admissions Department student spokesperson, as well as camp counselor for Today's Youth Matter Summer Camp for foster care and at-risk youths, a youth basketball camp counselor at St. Ignatius, and as a Christmas tree lot worker to help support at-risk kids in San Francisco.
Setting high goals and pushing myself out of my comfort zone is what I consider normal. My dream is to share my talents, skills, and ambitions with the best college athletic program possible.
