Personal Statement
I have always wanted to be just like my father, who was an All-American basketball player. It wasn't until I played on varsity as a sophomore under the guidance of seven seniors that I realized I would need to mature as a player in order to reach the next level. When I tore my ACL however, I made sure to do everything I could to get back into shape as soon as possible. I truly matured as a player, when I saw the game in another way. I helped coach the rest of the team for a full summer and learned a lot about how coaches think, and why they react in certain ways. I have now been able to apply the knowledge I have gained from coaching to the court, and I believe my basketball IQ has raised tremendously.
I am looking to attend a school that can challenge me academically, as well as help me reach my full potential as a basketball player. I plan on getting my Masters degree, and eventually my PH.D. I do not only believe that I have the talent to play on the collegiate level, but I believe I have the leadership skills, and work ethic as well.
My goal is to play college basketball, and learn from experienced college coaches. I am a very coachable person. I listen to instructions and perform on the court. My first step is very explosive and I am very good at finishing around the rim. I have acted in the musical for 3 years at St. Paul's, and I am the president of an engineering program outside of school. I have also been put in many different leadership positions from programs in and outside of school.
