My name is Oliver Clark, I am a class of 2024 from Baltimore, Maryland. For the past 14 years, I have been playing golf. I take regular lessons from my coach Sean English at the Elkridge Club. I attend St. Paul's School for Boys and am in the 10th Grade. Last year, I started on the St. Pauls varsity golf team. We won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) championship in 2021 & 2022
Playing golf for the past 14 years, I have played golf as much as I can. I am a great putter, one of my greatest abilities is making putts under pressure. Although I am not the longest hitter, I feel as if my short game makes up for it. This past year was a huge confidence booster for me, winning 2 HJGT events and improving my mental game massively. I also do understand that I do not want to get burnt out, so that is why I chose to play squash in the winter to up my fitness and learn how to play a different sport. So far, I have not lost a match. Some goals for 2022 are for me to get into the top 100 in the JGS or AJGA, top 10 in an AJGA event, and to win another MIAA championship.
I realize that might not have had ALL the achievements that some of your other young golfers have, but I have many intangibles (attitude, dedication, and heart) that I feel make me unique. I still have a lot of developing to do, but I am committed to improving every day. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
