Tell coaches about your collegiate goals and aspirations:
My collegiate goals are to earn a degree in Business and/or Marketing as well as earn an opportunity to contribute to the school’s basketball program as a Point Guard. Basketball has been my passion as long as I can remember. I love to play basketball and I play because it is fun. The game provides me an opportunity to compete – to contribute – to share – to learn – to grow – to lead and to be part of something much bigger than I --- to be part of a team. I love the brotherhood that a team provides – the support I can give and receive. Learning to trust others and to gain the trust of those same people. The joy is in the journey – the ups – the downs – the twists and the turns. The Quest. Basketball has always been my happy place – and has been a big part of me learning significant life skills along the way – at every level I have played. Playing College basketball as a strong contributor on a team has been my singular athletic mission. I want an opportunity to play – and if given the chance – I will not disappoint. I plan on delivering at a high level as a leader, player and teammate on a College basketball team. My collegiate goals include gaining extensive knowledge in Business, Marketing and on a variety of other subjects while attending college. It is important that I attend a college that offers a variety of programs and promotes diversity in its community. Once I complete my college education by earning my 4-year degree and finish my successful four years playing basketball -- I will take my skills and experiences to the workplace. After graduation from College -- I will take the four year investment I made in my college education and as a collegiate athlete and use it as a foundation for a successful career in business and eventually as a husband and father.
What makes you a good candidate for their team?
I am an enthusiastic and eager individual that is committed to doing whatever it takes to be a strong contributor to the school’s basketball program. I have a strong work-ethic and am a dedicated and disciplined player. I am a quick learner and I have a strong desire to continue to improve and grow as a basketball player and as a person. I work extremely hard on and off the court and am reliable and dependable. I am an effective leader on the court because I am unselfish and am committed to helping those around me get better. I have great court vision and get my teammates the ball in even the toughest of situations. I finished #2 in the State of Minnesota (2014/2015 regular season) in assists. I get great satisfaction from being part of something great as opposed to being something great. I handle the ball extremely well (assists / turnover ratio is 3.2/1 ) and am a very good 3 point shooter(40%). I can create my own shot in traffic - despite my 5’9” size. I am very serious about delivering for my coaches and my teammates. I adapt to change well – which makes me a great fit for any basketball program. I pledge that I will make a significant positive impact on the team that gives me the best opportunity to play and compete.
What makes you different from other recruits in character, athletics and academics??
What makes me unique and sets me apart from most other recruits is my strong ability across a wide spectrum of the game.
I was among the top High School players in all of Minnesota this past season in Assists, APG, Steals, SPG, Assists/Turnover ratio, 3-Pointers made
I also had a respectable 10 pts/game (on a team with 2 shooters that averaged 20 and 22 shots per game) w / 3.5 rebounds per game.
The offense will be run as called and as the PG I will lead as the Coaching staff intends.
I understand the game well – and have been told that I am an extremely smart player that takes care of the ball and make few mistakes.
I am fiercely competitive, scrappy and tenacious and I am committed to delivering exceptionally well for a Coaching staff that is willing to put the ball in my hands as the PG for their team.
