Personal Statement
I am a student athlete and would like to pursue basketball at the collegiate level. My goal is to earn an athletic and/or academic scholarship. Dedication and finding balance between athletics and academics is key to my success. I am goal oriented and driven in both areas. I have organized my success plan through daily routines which are focused, yet varied to make incremental improvements. Athletically, I work out daily. My daily routine consists of 500 makes per day and a varied fitness regimen consisting of weight training and aerobic/agility activity. Some training I do on my own, but much of it is with personal trainers and coaches. Academically, I also train daily. The plan may vary but each day I have time designated for school work. Currently, I attend a college preparatory high school per my choice. My parents gave me the option of attending our local high school. I chose to attend Holy Family after learning about the emphasis of participation in activities in and out of the classroom and the academic achievements of their graduating students. I take several AP Classes, excelling in math, and have a weighted GPA of 3.93. One of my strengths is my ability to focus and get the work done, both on and off the court. I have been told I have leadership qualities. I can be depended on and trusted. I have a sense of calm when asked to take the last second shot. In order to improve, I gladly listen to advice from coaches. I can handle criticism. I have a no nonsense attitude when needed. I want this for my future and I will do what is necessary to succeed in a program.
