Personal Statement

My name is James Elgin and I am from the small town of Stromsburg, NE. I am a 6'3 Senior that plays the SF/SG position. I started playing basketball in the 6th grade and instantly fell in love with the game. When I first started playing the game my teammates and opponents were much better than me. I learned the value of putting in the work and giving my best effort in drills to try to become the best player that I could be.  I play for Cross County Community Schools, and we are a very successful basketball and football school. I want to play college basketball at any level and get a good education. In the future, I want to have a career as an NBA announcer, and I believe getting a good college education could help me get there. What I bring to a team is energy, my coaches, and teammates all agree I am an excellent talker. I try to lead by example, whether pushing my teammates to go harder in drills, or staying afterwards to do extra.  Setting examples by doing, is the most important thing for me. If you talk the talk but don't walk the walk then you can't call yourself a leader.

Thanks

James Elgin
