Personal Statement
My name is Grant Pitman and I’m an incoming senior at Moeller High School in Cincinnati. For as long as I can remember, I have played and loved the game of basketball. I’ve always excelled as a scorer, but my greatest attribute is my work ethic. I realized early on that it would be my determination and work ethic, not just my physical abilities that could get me to the next level. I also understand that basketball is a team game, so I strive to be a good teammate on and off the court. Being coachable is also a big aspect that I work on.
When I’m not playing basketball, I focus on school work, volunteering, and my family. I’ve worked hard to achieve a high GPA, but my school means much more to me than just a report card. I am on the Admissions Team, where I lead incoming students. I give them advice, talk to their families, and give speeches. I also went on a mission trip to Monterrey, Mexico. We built basketball hoops and taught kids the game there in a fundraising effort for different orphanages. This experience showed me that there is so much more than just basketball. Finally, my family is very important to me, as they’ve always supported me. I hope to make them proud on and off the court.
It is now my dream and goal to play basketball at the collegiate level. I am working hard to improve my game every day, whether it is in the weight room or at skills practice. I want to attend a school where I can compete and excel on the court, in the classroom, and beyond.
