Benjamin Marcum '24 Recruiting Profile

I have grown up in a volleyball family, so my love for the game is not a surprise.  From a young age I remember playing volleyball out in the yard with my sisters, and I would always tag along when my mom was coaching. I have had the opportunity to play volleyball at the setter position at both Moeller High School and Cincy Attack. This has been a great experience for me, and I realized that I want volleyball to be a part of my life beyond high school.

I want to play volleyball in college because I love the sport, and I have seen the fun that my older sisters have had playing collegiate sports. Volleyball brings discipline into my life, challenges me to continue to learn, and allows me to be around other people that are passionate about the sport and share my competitive spirit. Over the last few years I feel that I have grown as a player, and I hope to continue this at the next level. I believe that I am a good teammate and bring many positive characteristics to the court.  I am patient and remain calm on the court. I try to lead by example, always having respect for myself, my team, and my coaches.  I am excited to learn more and can take constructive criticism and use it to improve.  I truly love the game and celebrate team success. Lastly, I pride myself on playing forward and lifting up my team.
