My family has always been big on football; my oldest brother played at Friends University and Sul Ross State University, and another brother played at Trinity University until his sophomore year. His sophomore year he decided to stop, and follow his dream of becoming a doctor. Being the only basketball-loving child, I wasn't worked with as much as my brothers. I played Little Dribblers as a kid, and never started nor did I make nationals for my losing team. I didn't' let that get me down; I worked by myself for hours a day. My first year in school athletics, I suffered an injury that put me out for the season, and in eighth grade, I never touched the court due to my lack of experience. High school comes around, and I follow my brother Weston to his new school. My first year of high school basketball, I started out as sixth man and soon overtook our sophomore point guard in skill. We had only four games that season because of other schools lacking a Junior Varsity. Sophomore year, I start as captain of the JV, and by the annual Christmas tournament in Buffalo, I was on varsity. Our varsity team beat my old school and made the playoffs on its first year competing in 2A athletics.
