Personal Statement
My first two years of high school basketball taught me what it takes to have a winning team and how to overcome the adversity of losing to become a winning team. My high school team had a very successful season in my freshman year. The team had outstanding senior leadership on and off of the court. Those great senior leaders led the team to a 33-4 season record that included a district championship, a region runner-up, a sectional championship, and a state runner-up finish. In my second year, the team struggled to win close games from the first game. However, the team eventually turned it around to finish 2nd in the district as a result of the great character of everyone on the team.
The experiences of my first two years of high school basketball taught me the qualities that all great teams must have in order to be winning programs. I want to be part of a program and university that is strong academically as well as athletically and will prepare me for life after basketball. My versatility as a player, my work ethic in the classroom and on the court, and my leadership will give me the opportunity to perform at at a high level academically and athletically.
