Having been on varsity since I was a freshman, it would've been easy to become complacent. But having a goal of earning a college scholarship, I knew this was not an option. Hard work was instilled within me early on by my father. This, thankfully, had lead me to be fairly successful while a student-athlete at Edinburg High School, earning such accolades as team MVP two years in a row, followed by back to back 1st-Team All-City & 1st-Team All-district recognitions, and more recently, my districts' Offensive MVP Award. These awards, however, are not the ultimate measure of success. For me, success will be continuing my basketball career at a collegiate academic institution.
To attain that goal, I understand the importance of getting things done in the classroom. I currently hold a 3.4 GPA and pride myself on having never failed, retaken, or needed extra credit to pass a class. I understand that basketball is the avenue that will get me a college degree. So basketball is what I will continue to put my effort, hard work, and dedication into.
