Jalen Merchant '24 Recruiting Profile

My dream/goal is to play Division I or Division II basketball and to be the best athlete and student I can be...to give my team 110%.  I will continue to learn everything I need to about the game and focus on becoming better and better and become a well rounded basketball player.  I know that there is still so much to learn and I still have a lot to work on but I am willing to put in the work to get to the next level.  I am easy to get along with and love to help others.  I am very competitive and I have a passion to win and I am coachable.  I want to be the player that keeps another player/team thinking at all times...they will not know which shot I might take...I might go to the left or to the right...I can shot with my left and with my right.  I am about 98% from the free throw line.  I am the go to man, the player who sets up the plays on my AAU and school varsity team...I am a strong leader and I have a high IQ when it comes to basketball and I always try to keep the team together and focused.  I would love to be able to make it to the NBA or play international ball and also be able to give back to the inner city youths and show them that dreams can come true with hard work and making sacrifices.  I want to inspire other youths.  I will continue to believe in myself and I am going to keep working hard and believe that it will pay off in the end.  Hard work makes the dream work.  I am going to continue to look for every opportunity to  play basketball and attend a DI or DII school; all I need is the chance to get on the court and show my talent and skills to the coaches.  I HAVE CONFIDENCE IN MYSELF AND BELIEVE COACHES WILL SEE THE POTENTIAL IN ME AND THE ASSET THAT I CAN BE TO THEIR TEAM.  I plan to attend as many camps and exposure events as possible and work hard to make it to the next level and accomplish my dream.
