Basketball has been my love for my entire life. I started playing at 5 years old and I grew up as the starting point guard for my grade school club teams. I continued as the point guard through my JV season, as I have always been lean and my height really didn't start to happen until my sophomore/junior year. My dad is also 6'8" and I have grown 10 inches since my freshman year, from 5'10" to 6'8" as of this month and I am still growing (with a wing span of 6'10").
As a three sport athlete (basketball, soccer and track), as well as an honors student, I have learned how to adapt, plan and prepare my entire life. Last year, our high school team went to the Wisconsin State Tournament and it was a great experience. I was more of a reserve role, as our team was very senior heavy. I try to always make the best decisions with the hand that I am dealt and last year, that meant practicing hard to prepare the starters and being ready for when I was needed. This summer I have grown another few inches and put on about 25 lbs. I am excited for my senior year and trying to bring our team back this year. On my summer AAU team, I was able to lead our team in points and rebounds, proving I can play at the highest high school level. I also made the All Tournament team for a High School Tournament hosted in our area.
I value the importance of a good education and I like to take on challenges. Going to a good school and getting a good education is very important to me, because I know I won't always be playing basketball. I believe that I am a great leader, listener and very coachable and am excited for this next stage of my life. Lastly, I want to be a positive impact to those around me and have fun at the same time.
