Declan Lane '20 Recruiting Profile

     My name is Declan Lane and I am currently a 18 year old student-athlete at Great Oak High School in Temecula, California.  My immediate goal for the future is to play collegiate golf at a school that fits both my academic and athletic interests.   

    I was introduced to the beautiful game of golf by my grandfather, Patrick Lane.  He was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland and came to the States as a young man.  He learned how to play golf in California, and continues to play even at 83 years old.  He instilled his love and passion of the game upon me, perhaps because my father and uncle chose to play soccer.  Our mutual love for the game has deepened our relationship and has provided a unique opportunity for us to spend quality time together.  It is a pleasure for me anytime I get to play a round of golf with my grandfather.  I have been blessed to travel to Ireland with my grandfather and play a round at the Killarney Golf Club.  The opportunity to travel to my grandfather's birth place and enjoy our favorite sport together will always be one of the highlights of my golfing career.    

     I pride myself on having a strong work ethic.  This comes from the example set by both my parents and has translated to the classroom as well as the athletic field.  As a former youth football player who has traveled throughout Southern California in order to compete against the best,  I resolve to perform my best by practicing hard and executing to the best of my ability when it matters most.   I intend to bring that same mindset to the class room and the golf course.  

   I am pleased with the progress my game has made over the last few years.  This positive improvement has motivated me to be more dedicated to the game than ever.  I work hard, on and off the course and intend to continue to train harder than others to reach my goals.  I have always set my sights on college, and I look forward to pairing my academics with participation in a top flight collegiate golf program.
