Throughout my life I have had the pleasure of leading and mentoring younger children in North-East Florida. I am currently the sitting Battalion Commander for my high schools Army JROTC program. Being a part of the JROTC it has taught me the life skills I need to be a better citizen and a better person in my community. During this time, I have been taught discipline, self-management, interpersonal communication, and how to cooperate with others even if they don’t have the same mindset or personal beliefs as me. When I was told I will be the leader of my schools JROTC I was ecstatic, mainly because I knew I could take the job head on. Learning these life skills, I have been able to include them into my golf game. When playing golf at the amateur level you meet all kinds of people from every walk of life. The best thing that has helped my game is self-management, being able to control one’s emotions and health on and off the golf course is key to be a good golfer and student-athletes.
