Personal Statement

I am the consummate team player! I've been a multi-sport athlete since age 4 competing in golf, tennis, basketball, baseball, volleyball and track. I was named to All-Star teams in basketball and baseball over several seasons. I also received numerous awards for sportsmanship and team leadership. However, my passion for golf led me to select it as my sport for high school and (hopefully) college. I love competing on my high school golf team and on the junior golf tour circuit. I was the first freshman to ever qualify as an individual for the FHSAA state golf finals in the 60 year history of my high school. I shot a 74 in Regional competition to get to state. As a sophomore, we won the District Championship for the first time in the school history and I was medalist, shooting 73. I also led my team to the FHSAA state golf tournament for the first time in many years. I received the team MVP award both freshman and sophomore years. I won a tournament my first year on the junior tour circuit and have had several top 10 finishes. I am the reigning 2014 Junior Club Champion at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge. I won on the 3rd hole of a sudden death playoff after shooting a 77 in regulation. I've been lucky enough to shoot 2 golf commercials with the King of Golf, Arnold Palmer.
I also love to compete in the classroom! I take mostly honors and AP courses; my current gpa is 4.27 weighted/3.97 unweighted. I'm involved in extra curricular activities and community service too. Because of my excellent grades, school spirit and great attitude, I was appointed by my teachers to the school Leadership Team. In 2013, I co-founded a charitable organization with several classmates known as the Lion & Hornet Society which has raised about $2,500 to date.
I am very interested in playing college golf at a program that is committed to player development. I really don't have any geographic preferences because I'm accustomed to playing in all types of extreme weather. Playing tournament golf in sub-tropical FL is more challenging than most people realize. Our summers are extremely hot & humid and our winter weather usually involves playing in 40 - 50 degree weather. Playing through light rain and 10-15 mph wind is a frequent occurrence and I often deal with numerous storm delays in the summer. My parents are Midwest natives so we usually plan some trips to Iowa/Illinois in the summer. I enjoy the hilly Midwest terrain and different turf challenges so I would definitely entertain all geographic options. In summary, I'm pretty good at multi-tasking so my expectations are to be a successful collegiate student/athlete. Thank you for considering me for your program!

  • 10 years
  • I have been focusing exclusively on golf since my freshman year. I played many sports growing up: baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf, tennis, track, etc. I started playing golf at age 5 and always loved it but wanted to enjoy team sports during elementary and junior high. I'm a member at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, FL. This is where I practice, play social golf and compete in member tournaments.
