Personal Statement

Hi, My name is Kola Abudu and I've played golf ever since I could walk but started playing it competitively since I was 12. My goal is to become a civil engineer like my dad and brother and I wouldn't mind a scholarship to be able to play golf and study my major. I think what makes me a good candidate is that I am a hard worker and through all the ups and downs I will never give up. I have a 4.33 gpa, I play football and basketball, I love to help out and volunteer from golf tournaments to helping the people in need, and I recently picked up a new hobby of playing chess.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • CPGA Charles Tilgham
  • 12/09/23 to 12/10/23
  • 68-76 T5 Played really well both days but the difference was the conditions. The second day was raining hard on and off especially for the people with later rounds the cold, wind, and rain was a big challenge especially in the back nine. I was able to hit the ball well just couldn't make any putts in the 2nd round and only having one birdie and playing in hurricane-like weather the final 3 holes. It felt like I played just as well as the 1st round but overall great tournament and a great way to finish going into next year with an even par 144 and top 5 for the weekend.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Senior Showcase
  • 12/03/23 to 12/04/23
  • 75-77 Didn't go as I hoped with not making any putts the whole week really and just a bad stretch of bogeys both days and too many 3 putts, but overall good to see even in the offseason and playing basketball not being able to practice a ton that I can still compete and play decent golf.
  • Camp/Event
  • Inaugural Labor Day TJGT & SNEDS Tour Junior Open
  • 9/02/23 to 9/03/23
  • 77-74, Course was playing hard with firm but aerated so putting was the easiest, as well as a ton of tucked pins but didn't play to well the 1st day but played all right the 2nd getting a top 10 finish
  • Camp/Event
  • CGA Dogwood Junior Boys
  • 7/18/23 to 7/20/23
  • 78-74, ended up missing the cut by one and ultimately because I didn't make a lot of putts inside 10ft including missing 3 5ft putts for birdies on the first day.
  • Camp/Event
  • TYGA Dan Dobson
  • 7/10/23 to 7/10/23
  • 71, played very well in the front and shot 32 but unfortunately being the 1st group we had to wait 20 minutes to start the back and couldn't get my momentum and rhythm going and missed quite a few short putts for birdie and par but overall played well.
  • Camp/Event
  • US Junior Amateur Qualifier
  • 6/26/23 to 6/26/23
  • 74, Played decent but two doubles and too many three putts killed my chances of qualifying
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Wyndham
  • 6/11/23 to 6/11/23
  • Got a little unlucky today with the triple from a bad lie in a fairway bunker but still played pretty well aside from that and proud of the way I didn't give up after and finished with a 73 T9
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Lanto Junior Championship
  • 6/06/23 to 6/08/23
  • 73-76-76 T34 Hit the ball great tee to green all week and gave my self a lot of birdie opportunities just didn't make any putts the last 2 days but overall decent week and good way to start the summer
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Lanto Junior Championship Qualifier
  • 6/04/23 to 6/04/23
  • A couple missed putts from 4ft but overall played well and was able to qualify shooting 70 (-2) and finished T2
  • Camp/Event
  • Conference Championship
  • 4/17/23 to 4/17/23
  • Shot 73 and won, and also won conference player of the year along with 1st team all conference with a 37.25 avg
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA Preview
  • 4/01/23 to 4/02/23
  • 1st AJGA of the spring and the 1st day got cancelled due to 30-40 mph wind and the whole course being casual water from the thunderstorm last night, but the 2nd round was still windy and wet and being a links course the wind affected a lot of shots. Played pretty well and shot 76 but 4 three putts and one 4 ft miss for birdie put me out of winning some hardware, but overall good week
  • Camp/Event
  • HV3 Qualifier
  • 3/18/23 to 3/18/23
  • Cold and very windy but played well and shot 71 finishing in 2nd.
  • Camp/Event
  • CGA Daniel Meggs Memorial
  • 8/08/22 to 8/09/22
  • 75-71, T15 Overall
