Personal Statement

My name is Gianni Jordan Silva, I attend South Grand Prairie High School. I believe I will be a good Candidate for your Team because I am a hard working student who knows what it takes to win and become a good athlete. I am a hard worker in my studies and in my Golf game. I know how to balance my school time and my practice time. I am an athlete who loves the game of Golf and has a good attitude on and off the course for myself and others. I also believe I am a good candidate because I am a social person on and off the course. I love to talk to others who enjoy playing the game of Golf like I do. I have been taught to encourage others, encouraging others is a great way to help you mentally. And I know that Mental Techniques is a big part of Golf; not only in Golf but also in Life. I love school, love to learn new things. I've been complimented that I show class during my tournaments and off the course. My Goal is to become a better person, an amazing Golf player and in hopes to some day make it to the PGA. Becoming a Golf Instructor is also one of my Career Goals. My aspirations is to help others as I have been helped.

Junior Year: During the summer I Qualified for my first US Jr Amateur for my first time. Beginning of Junior year I was Awarded Captain of the Varsity Golf Team. During my Fall Season I shot a 79 to get a 3rd place medal at Great Southwest Golf Club.

Individual Awards:
Sophomore year: My second year on the Varsity Golf Team, I shot a difficult 80 to get a 3rd place Medal at Bear Creek Golf Course.
2013 Varsity Team
Individual Awards:
Freshman: First year on the Varsity Golf Team. I shot my first 76 to get a 4th place Medal at Tierra golf Course.

This day was the first time I've ever tried to qualify for a big tournament. I didn't play like I wanted too, but It was good experience. I shot 88 the first 18 holes, then 86 the second 18 holes. The yardage for the course was 6700yds, tree line fairways and tough greens.

2014 Dallas Junior Golf Championship

Tenison Park Highlands, is a par 71 the course plays 6610yds. The tournament was suppose to be 3 days, but the second day was canceled due to flooded rain. The first day I shot 76. the last day I shot a 87. Friday which was scheduled to be the last day ended up being the second day (we ended up only playing 36 holes for the tournament instead of 54). Final Day of playing, the course went from terrific to terrible for the last day due to rain, the fairways were flooded and the fairways had dirt on some parts.

Mansfield National Golf Course is a par 72 course that plays 6750 for districts. I shot 83-78-161 placed 14th out of 49. The first day consisted of winds from 15-20 MPH. The second day I had to fight to shot the lowest possible score to compete with other medalist players; I didn't give up I kept my composure through my rounds.

The Golf Club of Dallas is a par 70 course that plays 6719yds, I shot 78-79-157 and tied for 18th out of 45 kids. The course played difficult with hard tee shots and fast greens, but I kept my mind focus on my next shot to come.

Riverside Golf Course, is a Par 72 the course plays 6389yds, I shot a 80 placed 50 out of 230 for the first day. The course played hard due to the 25-30 Mph Wind Gust through the day. I hit the ball really well during the tournament.

River Crest Country Club, is a Par 70 the course plays 6383yds, I shot a 79 placed 37 out of 230 for the second day. The course played challenging with 25-30 Mph winds. Also the course is known for Fast and Tricky Greens. I played really well but I never played the course before because its private. I hit my Driver and Irons really well during the tournament.

The Third day didn't count due to heavy rain, I was 2 over through 9 holes. The Fourth day I Played Colonial Country Club home to the PGA Crown Plaza Invitational. The course is a Par 72, the course plays 6837yds from the Blue Tees, I shot a 80 placed 12th out of 57 due to the the kids who were cut during the third round. I made the cut. The course played difficult due to another day of 20-25 Mph Wind Gust. The course is known for being long and fast greens. I hit my driver and Irons well, if I knew the course better I could have shot lower.

Tenison Park Highlands is a Par 72 the course plays 6610yds, I Shot 78-78-72 for a Total of 228 for three days I placed 10th out of 27. Temperatures averaged 100-102 degrees for three days. The course played nice with fast greens. I played really well, I hit my driver nice, my irons pure and putting was a big factor to me shooting low. I had lots of fun!
