Personal Statement
When someone says the word "hockey" it sends a wave of excitement through me. I am excited about hockey in any form whether it be a game, practice, shooting into my net in the driveway, or watching the NHL. The possibility of playing at the collegiate level is especially thrilling to me. I am hoping to find the best college fit for me to make this dream a reality.
I began playing hockey as a defensive player. I did well there, and was often used for my size to create a screen. I also was able to take a solid shot from the blue line and score. My high school coach noticed that I had the skills to also play as a wing and he tried me out in that position. As I continued to score he decided to keep me there and we ended up as league champions.
My coaches have described me as a "coachable kid". I am a leader, but I can also take direction very well. I was the coaches' All-Star pick from our team last year, and had the highest percentage points to games played.
I take training for hockey very seriously. I decided to run cross-country my freshman year to help me train and found success on the cross-country course. I was named "All-Conference" last year on the varsity team.
Education is important to both my family and me. My mom is a teacher and we have many other teachers in our family. These family members have instilled a love of learning in me, and I want the best college education I can get. I expect that being a member of the college hockey team will enhance my educational experinece at the college level. I look forward to discussing the possibility of me playing college hockey with interested coaches in the near future.
