Personal Statement

My name is Cohen Pilkington and I recently completed my second year with the U18 Pembina Valley AAA Hawks. I love the game of hockey and would love the opportunity to pursue it to the highest level possible and playing at the collegiate level would be an aspiration for the future. As a bigger right-handed defenseman I take pride on my skating  and how well I move on the ice. I also realize that this is an area that I will continue to work on to improve my mobility, quickness, and overall skating ability. I view my defensive game as my strength and love being out on the penalty kill and playing in key situations. I also play on the powerplay providing a strong shot from the top or left-hand side. I see the ice and move the puck well and continue to work on reading the play and making quicker decisions.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • MJHL Prospects Camp
  • 7/20/23 to 7/23/23
  • The main goal of the camp is to prepare these players on and off the ice for what it takes to be successful in the MJHL and what it takes to advance to NCAA, WHL, U Sports, and eventually Pro or NHL. The camp activities will emphasize the elements these players need to focus on to transition successfully from elite minor hockey up into junior hockey. Players will receive both on and off-ice development led by experienced professionals in their respective fields. The on-ice program will consist of practice and competitive game sessions, and the off-ice portion will cover elements related to athleticism and mental skills, as well as the technical and tactical skills required to play in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. In addition, available player development paths will be highlighted along with the many benefits of playing in the MJHL.
  • Camp/Event
  • MJHL Draft
  • 6/04/23 to 6/04/23
  • This was my year to be drafted into the Manitoba Jr Hockey League. I was selected 34th overall out of the 2007 draft year. I was selected by the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and look forward to trying out in the fall.
  • Camp/Event
  • Brooks Bandits U18 Showcase
  • 4/14/23 to 4/16/23
  • Top Jr. A team and league in Canada. Received an invite to come and looking forward to possible invite to play. Love the organization and would be a huge step in moving onto the NCAA route as the Bandits are always in the talk to win the league and move players on.
