My name is Alan Weitzman, I am a 16 year old, sophomore student athlete who lives in Middleton Massachusetts and I attend Masconomet Regional High School.
Since I was around three years old, I have been skating and at age 4, I started playing and fell in love with the sport of hockey. Since then, 85% of my life has been all about hockey. I started out playing for my local town Mite team, and every year consistently making the top team for my age level. At some point, I wanted more of a challenge, so my parents and I decided it was time to take it to the next level to play for a select Club Team. My first travel team was the Islanders Hockey Club, located out of Merrimack College. We were always in the highest tier, so I played against many really skilled New England travel teams. My third and final year for the Islanders, my team was invited to the The Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament . We played teams from Russia, South America and several talented Canadian teams.
I decided I wanted to move on from the Islanders, and this time I wanted to try-out for an Elite Club Team. I accomplished my goal, and played three years with a brand new elite club team, the Boston Americans.
Once I was moving on to high school, I dedicated my time playing for a fall, half-season team, the AAA Boston Vipers. This team allowed me to stay in hockey shape while also preparing me for my first year of high school hockey.
Hockey is not the only thing that is important in my life though. In addition, I play for my high school Lacrosse team, I also play for my high school’s Varsity golf team and I am in the DECA Business Club. My high school and church require students to also volunteer for a number of community service hours every year as well.
I like to apply myself in school, and out of school. I love spending time with my family and friends as much as possible. I am enrolled in four honors classes and have been able to maintain good grades throughout my semesters. During the off season of hockey, I attend different hockey camps. Last summer (and hopefully again this summer), I was lucky enough to spend a week in Fairibault, MN at a sleep away camp which was at Shattuck Saint Mary’s Prep School. In addition, I do many different local camps and off ice training programs as well.
