Personal Statement

Playing in multiple state championships and finally winning won last year as well as playing in the International Silver Stick Finals were big moments for me as a goalie. A few years ago, I started playing AAA hockey. Not only were the teams I faced more competitive but going from a team where I was the only goalie, to a team where I had to compete for playing time was a big wake up call for me. I had to practice on and off the ice even harder to fight for a spot as the starting goalie. I was pushing myself everyday to get better and reach that top spot on my team. I have learned from other goalie’s mistakes and my own during practices and in games to develop new training drills. I continue to take what I have learned and observed to train and push myself to become the best goalie I can be.

I have played for teams that have made me into a better player both mentally and physically. I am a strong believer in a cooperative team mentality and can be a team leader when it is needed. I am looking for a program that can help me to continue to grow and develop. To succeed, not just as an athlete but academically as well. A program, that can help me reach that next level and be at the top of my game. I am open to a variety of colleges and universities, big or small, urban or rural as long as I can continue to play the sport I love.
