Personal Statement

I feel that my greatest accomplishment to date, was during the summer before my sophomore year of high school. I was accepted and committed to attend Gilmour Academy, which is a college prep school in Cleveland, Ohio. I also made the varsity hockey team at Gilmour Academy. I knew by accepting this challenge, that my life would never be the same. I would be moving far away from my family and friends in Virginia at the age of 15, I would be taking the most challenging academic courses, and I would be playing hockey! I would be doing all of this while living alone! So far, this experience has helped me to grow as a person in so many ways and it has lead me to face all of my biggest challenges, while re-focusing on my goals at an early age.

My varsity team made history my first year at Gilmour Academy by winning the 2017-2018 State Championship. That experience, along with my many other seasons of hockey,  has taught me countless values and skills that will help me later in my life. I have learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership. I have learned the importance of independence, faith, time management, and problem solving. I'm looking for a college program that will be a good fit for me both athletically, as well as academically. I believe I have the talent and skills to compete for a college hockey team.  Along with my athletic position on a college hockey team, I would also bring to the table my good character, intense work-ethic, and strong leadership skills in order to make an immediate impact on any college program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
