My interest in hockey began when I was quite young, tagging along with my parents to their games. I began playing when I was about 5 years old. One of the things I learned at an early age is that I am really competitive. Initially, this was a hindrance, as sometimes my emotions got in the way of playing the game. I have learned, however, to channel my energy constructively, enabling me to exert a positive effect on the direction of the game. I believe that this ability to rise to the challenge when things are not going well, combined with my work ethic, skills, size, and strength make me a valuable addition to any hockey program.
I was fortunate to be offered a roster spot on the Oklahoma City Blazers for the 2020-21 season. My goal is to play hockey at as high a level as possible for as long as possible and I felt that to achieve this end, I needed to be challenged at a higher level. Moving to the Junior level from 16U AA was a big step, but I feel that it was the right decision even though it meant leaving teammates that I had played with for years and with whom I had become very close. I intend to continue improving my game and eventually play at the college level.
My academic interests are quite varied and I enjoy many of the subjects that I take. The Covid-19 epidemic has sparked my interest in epidemiology so I intend to follow a course of study in the sciences, primarily biology and chemistry, at the undergraduate level.
