Jakob Vrga '21 Recruiting Profile

I am in the high-performance sports program at my high school and have been playing organized and competitive hockey since the age of 4.  Being in the high-performance program has helped me manage my time productively such as balancing hockey practices and games, school, and other activities.  Playing high-level hockey (AAA and AA throughout my career) has helped me learn to prepare my mind and body for games and whatever unexpected challenges may come my way.  I have built many relationships with other players and coaches which has increased my social circle and it has also given me the fortune of seeing many different lifestyles.  This has also taught me about leadership, success, disappointment, and how to control my mind to filter out negative and doubtful thoughts.  Hockey has kept me in shape, giving me coordination, strength, balance, and endurance.  It was built my character and improved my mental agility.  

I have also taken part in volunteering as a leader through a school-based leadership program at Camp Manitou.  I was involved in mentoring grade 10 campers and providing guidance and support.  I engaged myself in planning, skill-building groups, seminars, and outdoor activities. I taught students to have fun, but also to learn more about themselves while getting to know others from the school. 

I have obtained an over 80% average throughout the school year and have worked very hard to maintain this average.  

My goal is to obtain a Degree in Business and become a successful entrepreneur.  Currently, I am working on my own branded drop shipping business which I've incorporated and am the Director of.  The business' main focus at the moment is acquiring, shipping, and selling products from overseas into the US marketplace through Amazon.  I am also working on incorporating Instagram and Facebook ads into my website to generate higher site traffic.  My website is currently in development and as soon as all the preliminary negotiations are complete, the website will be up and running.
