Richard Malsch '26 Recruiting Profile

As soon as high school started, I've discovered a deep passion for hockey that has not only shaped me as an athlete but also as a dedicated student. In middle school, my team won the championship two years in a row. This past year my team qualified for playoffs in both JV and varsity hockey. I feel that because of this, I have become more passionate towards the sport of hockey.

If I had to describe myself as a hockey player, I would say that I’m a strong player that gives 100% effort at all times. I don’t back down from a puck battle, and I try to play the game using my quickness and hockey IQ.

As a student athlete, I've learned to balance numerous schedules with academic responsibilities. I have to balance the schoolwork that I’m given, along with practices and games for two different teams. The discipline demanded by the sport has seamlessly translated into my academic pursuits, enhancing my ability to excel on the ice and in the classroom.

Looking ahead, I am excited to continue this journey of growth. I am determined to embrace every opportunity to learn, whether it's sharpening my skills on the ice or engaging in academic pursuits.
