Growing up in a Spanish speaking and Latino household has taught me a lot. Latino families are very close, I share everything with my parents and they do not shelter me. My parents have taught me to be honest and forgiving, which are two of the most important qualities in life. I have learned how to use Spanish to my advantage, for example, I am able to help people who do not understand or speak English well, I am able to communicate with a greater range of people, I can go to Spanish speaking countries and feel comfortable. I have been taught that I need to think about others and their needs as my own, I can not be selfish. My parents, teachers, and coaches have all taught me a countless amount of lessons on how to be a good leader on and off the field.
