Blanchet Catholic Community School (BCS) Sixth – Twelfth grade years.
Blanchet Catholic has small class sizes of students who are eager to learn. The graduating alumni have a 99.5-100% college attendance ratio and focus on college preparatory classes. Twenty-nine Blanchet students have been honored by the prestigious National Merit Scholarship organization since 1998. Eleven students have been named National Merit semifinalists.
BCS is a private rigorous college preparatory honors and AP education.
DECA: Since my freshman year I became involved in DECA to obtain business skills. They integrate these skills into the classroom instruction, showing students how it applies to learning and life outside college. I want to be academically prepared for real life after college, focusing on my community as a responsible experienced leader.
Friends of Benedictine (FOB): Since 1998 Blanchet Catholic School has partnered with the elderly at Providence Benedictine Nursing Center in Mt. Angel, Oregon. We journal and participate in activities including taking the residents on field trips. This time is not counted towards Blanchet service hours or my 117 annual volunteer hours listed below as it is during the school day. I am giving back to my community while learning from those before my generation.
BCS Campus Ambassador: I provide tours of the Blanchet Campus and Program to visiting students, parents and public officials. I encouraged interested students to shadow us for a day to see the school from inside real working classroom environments. They should make sure it is a good fit before investing the level of time, money and commitment our school takes. I believe very strongly in the Blanchet educational system where I have been a student since Sixth grade. This is typically before and after school, not included in the volunteer hours listed below.
Volunteer: I volunteer at a local church one Saturday per month leading and supervising foster children in various games, crafts and activities. This allows their foster parent a consistent respite from the rigorous demands of foster parenting. I took lacrosse equipment to an impoverished Native American community in Heart Butte Montana July 2016 while serving the local children on a mission’s trip for one week. The above 96 community service hours in addition to my 21 Blanchet community service hours is an example of my 117 hours I typically serve annually.
Sports: Playing sports recreationally as well as competitively is part of my DNA. I thoroughly enjoy all sports. Lacrosse is clearly my favorite in which I play/train year round on my off seasons. I volunteer with Salem Keizer Youth Lacrosse as a Coaching Asst as needed.

Employment: Certified Referee for Salem Keizer Youth Lacrosse and also hired for lacrosse tournaments. I typically work enough refereeing and odd jobs to pay my club lacrosse tuition for both Fall and Summer programs. I pay tuition $1500+ per season and my parents pay for the travel.
3-year plan: I am considering applying at various colleges that offer lacrosse, private/smaller instructional atmosphere, along with the Military Academies. Until that time I will continue to focus on all of the above activities to improve my chances of acceptance including competing at Boys State and Boys Nationals. Perfect grades and attendance are only a small piece of the overall scoring and application process. They look for individuals who are leaders in their communities, can handle complex tasks while multi-tasking, solving problems and becoming world leaders.
Benefit to your school/institution: I feel the training path I am on presently multi-tasking all of the above activities while earning high grades in Honors/AP level classes show I am an excellent candidate. My references and transcript are available upon request.
