I currently row for Newburgh Free Academy during the spring and row for Orange County Rowing Association during the summer. This year I plan to row year round. I can row both port and starboard as well as scull. Growing up I was a competitive swimmer but realized I wanted to be a part of a team and I loved being on the water. Rowing for the school team has made the greatest impact of my high school experience and I would love to continue this in college.
For my junior year I was named one of the captains of the school team and this means I get to lead by example. It enables me to instill what I know about rowing and help my teammates become better versions of themselves, like the captains before me.
Currently I am an honors student taking multiple AP classes each year. I am also part of the Marist College Computer Science Program which enables me to graduate with 26 college credits just in computer science. Because of my goal of being an engineer, I have taken classes in Design & Drawing, Design for Production, Welding 101, and Electric. Additionally, I am in the Concept Vehicle Racing Team, Key Club, and Asian Pacific Islanders club. On Saturdays, I volunteer through the Newburgh Armory Learn 2 Swim program teaching young inner city children water safety and how to swim.
I would like to attend a college where I can major in aerospace engineering/mechanical engineering and row. I am open to all levels as long as I can do both. Rowing has made me a stronger student and I would love to continue that going forward.
