Ethan Downey '22 Recruiting Profile

It's paramount to be the first in my family to both play soccer and earn a degree from a Division I school.  I want  to compete at the highest level possible in athletics and academics.  It's important to me to feel a part of something bigger than myself,  to allow opportunities of challenge and growth,  and to live my dreams.  I'm a great candidate to any team who wants a player that is committed to the definition of team.  I pride myself on outworking any player on the pitch, but at the same time, I will be the first to lift any player off the turf whether on my team or the opposition. I encourage my teammates and have always led by example. I play hard, physical and with confidence. I've played at the highest level in the DA and now the MLS Next. I have competed against the best teams in the Nation and those from abroad. My experience training and playing at this level allows me to come into a Division I setting and become an instant contributor. As much as I want to join a team with goals to win a  conference, region, and championship, I also want to earn my degree and be able to give back to the institution that allowed me the opportunity to do so. I want to leave a positive mark in my life, for my family, for my community, and I want to be the ambassador for the institution that embraced a kid who's ready and willing to take life on and prove it.
