I was born to play soccer.
Ever since I stepped onto the field I have been in love with the game of soccer. I love to train, to watch game footage and analyze plays, to discuss soccer strategy and history with peers, and to play any moment that I have.
I believe that the only way to be successful in something is to work hard, and I apply this mentality not only in soccer, but in every aspect of my life. I am a hard worker in school, and I am always looking for a way to push myself in order to be academically better. After my freshman year in high school I decided that I had not challenged myself enough academically and so during my sophomore year I decided to take two honors courses in addition to my other A-level classes.
Last spring I completed a coach training program through my club Inter CT and was able to contribute to my club by training some of the youngest players and working with my previous coaches in practice sessions throughout the week (in addition to all of my own practices). During the summer I also started my own business and provided individual and small group training sessions for younger players. My goal for next summer is to participate in a soccer training and service trip to Malawi Africa to work with the young men and women of the Ascent Soccer Program.
I am constantly working to become a better player, and not all of that is about working only on myself. I am always trying to gather information from my coaches and teammates, and in return I help myself and the team. Soccer is a team sport, and when I am better and my teammates are better, then we move forward together in a positive way.
In order to become great in anything you have to put in the work. I have consistently received feedback from coaches that I am dedicated, very coachable, a soft-spoken leader on and off the field, and an excellent technical player. I have always been the type of person to put in the extra work whether it’s in soccer, academics, or in service to others. I have been putting in all of this extra work to achieve my goal of being great at something I love, and that something is soccer. I can’t get enough of the sport, and I hope that I can take myself to another level of soccer by playing in college.
