I am a 5' 9" defender from Minnetonka, MN and will graduate in the 2015 class. I have been Captain of my Freshman and Sophmore high school teams, as well as the last three years for my C1 club team. I've shown my leadership abilities on the field and in the classroom.
My coaches have always said I am very "coachable." I am able to take their direction and deliver on the field. I lead my defense with confidence because I have been able to play 95% of full games over the last 4 years gaining the experience I rely on. Attending multiple soccer camps including the summer Creighton College Prep camp in Omaha has improved my knowledge of the game. I also enjoy watching EPL games every Saturday and Sunday mornings. Playing like Kyle Walker and Gael Clichy is my goal. I believe I am a strong player, able to play bigger than my size. Additionally, I am mentally tough. My past two club coaches have held me responsible for the direction and level of play of our defense. The other 3 defensive positions have been rotated with up to 6 other players while I am left on the field to guide the defense. I primarily play a left central defender with my club team, but have also played outside left or right during my high school seasons.
I am a flexible player with both a strong natural right foot, but able to play on the left side with an equally stong left foot. My speed allows me to play outside defender overlapping to make offensive runs toward the goal. I continuously work on my conditioning to keep myself in peak condition. I take the majority of the longer free kicks during the game, with an ability to drive the ball, lob the ball or drop the ball over defenders. In games with penalty kicks after overtime, I am 3 of 3 in the past three years including one in a Club State Championship Game.
I am continually trying to raise my game, elevating my game above the competition and not taking plays off during a game. I give 100% at all times. I have seen players and teams who play down to the level of competition at times, that bugs me. Being a respected player within my team and playing a respectful game is important to me. I want to be part of teams who are unselfish and have a positive attitude toward teamwork and competition. I like to win, but I like most to win as a team.
My dream is to go to a college that satisfies my academic goals and while giving me a chance to play soccer. I would like to go to a college where they have a very good eduction for students. I would also like a college with a friendly environment to give me the opportunity to do my best on the field and in the classroom.
