I have been involved in soccer since I was six years old. It has helped me to grow as a person and as an athlete. It has taught me how to be resilient and overcome obstacles. I played Travel Soccer in fifth grade. When tryouts came for the next season, I didn’t make the team. I didn’t let that failure define me. Instead, I decided to work hard on my own to prepare throughout sixth grade and train for the school modified soccer team. In addition to making the modified team in seventh grade, I was invited to try out for the Travel Team again; I made the team. I felt sure of myself and confident in my abilities to help the team. This determination and “chip-on-my shoulder” has contributed to my aggressive, high-energy playing style. I was pulled-up to the JV soccer team in eighth grade and was pulled-up to Varsity in ninth grade. I strive to be the best player/teammate that I can be and reflect on it after each practice or game.
These characteristics have translated into the classroom as well. I have been on honor roll each quarter and want to earn a degree in science/health science. I want a hands-on career that allows me to problem-solve. I enjoy the challenge and will not give up. I believe I have the skills and qualities necessary to be an impactful player on your team and a student athlete.
