Personal Statement

One of my main goals is to play at a really high level in college soccer. I think I would be a good candidate for a high level soccer team, because I feel that I have really good skills and i know the game really well. I am a very smart and composed soccer player. I use my intelligence and instinctive vision to know where the best place to play the soccer ball is. The reason why i am really composed is that no matter how heated the situation gets in the game, i won't lose my composure and get a yellow or red card. I think i am different from the other recruits, because i will always work hard in every situation I am put in and i won't give up. Ive had success at every level that I have been put in, and I know how to win the game. I never give up whether it's sports, school, or any challenge, I have always found a way to succeed.

Heilman thriving as boys' leader
By SCOTT GERFEN
Tuesday September 29, 2015 11:21 AM
As captain of a young Bexley High School boys soccer team, senior Cole Heilman has been determined to help the Lions improve.
The senior forward, who scored a Central District best 27 goals last season, has picked up where he left off a year ago.
"I feel like this year I do have a lot more weight on my shoulders," Heilman said. "I know I have to be a leader and set an example in everything I do on the field, whether it's scoring or setting up shots for the other guys."
Heilman scored two goals in a 4-1 victory over Zanesville Rosecrans on Sept. 26, helping the Lions improve to 7-4 overall. Bexley was 3-0 in the MSL-Ohio Division before playing West Jefferson on Sept. 30.
Entering play this week, Heilman had a team-best 17 goals, including seven between wins over Grove City Christian (7-1 on Sept. 16) and Franklin Fenwick (7-0 on Sept. 19).
"He's one of two seniors who generally start, so I know he feels that pressure to do a little extra," coach Brian Stoddard said. "Cole is more of a leader who is going to go out there and play hard and let the troops rally around him."
The Lions will need Heilman's offensive spark as they prepare for a difficult stretch of league games that includes road contests against Grandview, last year's Division III state runner-up, on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Columbus Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Bexley, Grandview and Worthington Christian shared last year's league title at 7-1.
"Those games are square in focus for us right now with the opportunity to be able to win the league right there in front of us," Stoddard said. "Grandview is a defending state finalist and we've got to play them on the road. Academy is giving up very few goals, so we expect those games to be dogfights."
