Darcy Bloemen '14 Recruiting Profile

I began playing soccer in Holland when I was three years old and have never stopped. From  a very young age to today I have dreamt of playing professionally.

I was born in a small town in The Netherlands called Naarden where soccer is like a religion. I moved to Canada when I was five and although Canada has less focus on soccer my love for the game has never changed. I have played on various OYSL and Academy teams in Ontario such as Sigma FC (current), Spartacus, Power Soccer, and I have also trained in the Netherlands with KNVB. For the last two years I have played in the Under 21 league with Sigma FC which has clearly helped to build my strength and speed of play against much older and experienced players. This experience is helping to get me ready for playing at the next level University.

After grade 8, I decided to leave my friends and all my classmates of my old school and got the opportunity to attend PEAC School for Elite Athletes where I could develop both my academics and receive top soccer development daily. At PEAC we practice four times a week with top licensed coaches ie  UEFA A licensed coach from England 2011/12  and this year with coach Dom a top player in his day from Hartford.  PEAC is an academic/sports school which helps me prepare for what a student athlete will have to face in University in terms of juggling both school and soccer.

While playing soccer continues to be a HUGE passion of mine, as I grew older I started to come to the realization that I could do both ie  attend a good US University, earn my  degree (hopefully in Business) and play top level soccer. I am very interested in business specifically marketing and sales and would love to open up my own store one day BUT am still trying to live my dream to see how successful I can become as a player. I am very excited and hopeful to play D1 soccer in the US and study Business.
