Gianluca Dalterio '24 Recruiting Profile

Soccer is my life’s passion and way of life.  The sport is truly the most beautiful game in the world.  I have been playing since I could walk and have been fortunate enough to be able to travel and experience the game at the most competitive levels (Union Juniors, Continental/FC Delco DA, Mundialito in Salou Spain, and Juventus FC Camp in Cascia, Italy).  At the high school level, I am currently at Lansdale Catholic and have been playing Varsity since my freshman year.  At the club level, I am currently with the Philadelphia Ukrainian National Soccer Club where for the past two years we have qualified for the Regionals and Nationals, and in 2021 we won the State Cup Championship where I scored a key goal while assisting on others.  My decision to play for high school (and club) had to do with the realization that there was a clear path for me to the collegiate level while allowing me to have a greater sense of classroom and community.  On the field, my position is a center attacking midfielder (CAM).  My coaches through the years have   consistently recognized and complimented my playing style – build-up/link-up play, ability to create a chance out of nothing, goals, signature passes, etc.  In addition, I have incredible vision, excel at the “give and go,” and operate extremely well in tight spaces while remaining calm under pressure.  I am a very humble person and truly a team player that does not need to be the center of attention or have the desire to show-off all of the good things I do, but prefer to have my game do the talking.  In the past two years, in order to continue to further develop my game, in addition to my regular soccer training schedule, I have dedicated myself to healthy eating habits and daily strength training to improve speed, agility and explosiveness.  Through ambition, effort, and commitment, my vision for my college career is to have a successful balance between my academic and soccer experiences.
