Personal Statement
My name is Callum Donnell, and I am a 2023 goalkeeper from Jackson, TN. I have been playing soccer since I was four years old, and club soccer since second grade. I love the game of soccer. I love being coached, working with and supporting teammates, and training to be a better player. This fall I moved to Bradenton, Fl and I play for IMG Academy. Previously I played for the Madison Academic High School varsity team in Jackson, TN since my Freshman year of high school. From 2018-2021, I have been selected to play for the 2005 TN ODP team and attended Region IV soccer camps. In August 2022 I was named to the ODP South Region 2005 Boys team. As an ODP player, I had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica and play soccer versus local teams in that country and to volunteer in a local school. I love that I share a love of soccer with people all over the world.
As a player, I bring a dedication to training, practice, and games. I communicate well with my coaches and teammates on and off the field. My coaches often describe me as a coachable player, and I seek out advice and opportunities to improve. As a goalie, I understand it is important for me to be not only physically strong and prepared but also mentally strong and prepared to handle the pressure of games. The success I have experienced as a member of my soccer teams has encouraged me to continue to work hard on and off the soccer field. My goal is to find a college where I can be both a student and an athlete. When I think ahead to college and career plans, my goal is to pursue a career in coaching. I am open to any opportunity I have to play soccer after high school.
