Brayan Abernethy '19 Recruiting Profile

Being born in Guatemala, I think soccer is just in my blood.

My parents tell me I played soccer in the streets with cans and random balls whenever I could.  Fortunately, I was adopted by my American parents at 2 years old and raised in the USA with access to soccer fields and balls.  My parents and teachers saw my left foot kicking skills back then and got me involved in soccer.  I've been playing ever since.   One of the things that make me stand out is I'm a good listener, team player and can play most positions, but I prefer playing left or center mid.   I also studied Tae Kwon Do for many years and was close to getting my 2nd Degree Black Belt. Those skills learned from Tae Kwon Do like mental focus, respect, discipline and self-confidence really help with soccer and I'd like to bring that mental outlook to a college team. 

I play on my high school team as team captain and a Div. 1 travel team.   I really want to play on a winning college soccer team and at a school with good academics mixed with fun and a nice campus.
