Soccer has been a huge part of my life and has helped to mold me into the person I am now. It has made me competitive, hard-working and a team player. I have been playing with the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club since I was 10 years old. My role became more defined the last few years and I am now the starting defensive midfielder for my team. We have had our struggles and for years, we had a losing record. It forced us to be mentally tough and we worked hard to improve every year. Last year, our efforts were rewarded and we were extremely successful. We won on our league championship for the first time in the high school age group for our club and then made it to the semifinals of State Cup. This year, we came is second in the league and again made it to the State Cup semi-finals. I have been a core player for the team, a leader and am always a reliable player for my coach. He knows I will do my best every game.
I definitely want to continue playing soccer through college at a highly competitive level and at an academically rigorous institution. I have always been a strong student with a penchant for math and science. My parents are both physicians and I also have an interest in a medical or engineering career. I am used to multitasking as I am involved in many activities at school in addition to the heavy soccer and academic load. As class president for the past 3 years and agin for next year, I can get along with anyone and am extremely motivated in achieving whatever goals I set my mind on. I know I can continue to have success both an and off the field and am trying to find the right fit for me in the next phase of my life.
