Laban Jamar '14 Recruiting Profile

Hello, My name is Laban Jamar. I am 18 years old. I was raised in Manassas,VA and moved to Huntsville,AL when I was 14, where I presently reside. I am a senior at Buckhorn High School in New Market, Alabama. I have been swimming since I was 6 years old. I started swimming in the Prince Wiiam County Summer Swim League for Stonewall Park Swim Team. When I moved to Huntsville, AL I joined Sharon Johnston Summer League Swim Team. Then the next year I joined my highschool swim team at Buckhorn when I was in the 10th grade. I have never been a member of a year round swim team. Every year I looked forward to swim season and my goal was to drop my time in every event that I swam. I became a breastroker and pursued my dream to make the top 8 in the final for my summer swim league and to make top 16 in the Alabama High School State Swim Meet. I was able to achieve both in my final years of swimming. I believe I could be a great asset to any collegiate team. Being that I have never swam year round and achieved times without it is a great accomplishment. I believe with the training I would get at the collegiate lever can only make me be a better swimmer, and represent your college greatly. My mom swam in college off of a 4 year scholarship at Alabama A&M University and is a part of their athletic Hall of Fame. I've always looked up to her and have wanted to follow her footsteps to become a college swimmer. For the past 2 years I have been captain of both of my swim teams I swam for. I lead, coach, teach swim lessons, and teach a stroke clinic. I believe with the qualities I possess I would be a great candidate to represent a college swim program.
