Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Kealan Harris; I am currently 17 years of age and a senior at Point Loma High School in San Diego. One of my greatest passions in life is swimming which I hope to take as far as I can go beginning with college swimming. Starting with my freshman year, I competed with the varsity swim team and played for the water polo team. In 2015, I was MVP and Team Captain for PLHS Swim Team and Team Captain 2014-2015 for Mission Valley YMCA (my club swimming). I train 25+ hours per week with an additional 80 miles of biking per week plus gym time and weekend meets. I have been working hard consistently dropping time over the past year and I intend to continue dropping my race times to achieve my personal goals. My main events are the fly, and backstroke, but my 200 IM and distance events are improving daily. I am a firm believer in pushing myself to be the most I can be and never giving up on a challenge. I hope to be part of a team who shares these goals and supports their teammates in their endeavor to succeed on both the team and individual levels, in and out of the pool.
Academically, I plan to pursue an Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am a serious student with a 4.42 GPA who loves learning and excels in math, science and history. In my time off, I enjoy competing in long-distance ocean swims, building computers, operating drones, construction work, surfing, wake boarding, skiing, and cycling. Basically, I love anything that involves physics which is just about everything. I hope to put my drive and determination to good use and find a college where I can grow and develop into the student and swimmer I know I can be.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Kealan Harris
