Hi, I’m Jack. I have been swimming full-time on a club team since fall of 2019. Despite the late start and the disruption caused by Covid, I have made great progress and have even better times still ahead. It’s hard for you to get to know me through a brief profile, but I will share a story that demonstrates who I am.
Even though I am a homeschooler, I was able to join my local high school’s swim team this year. We were at the county championship meet, going head to head with our main rivals, when my coach approached me. He asked two things: if I put you on this A relay, can you still win your personal event which is coming up next? I told him I could. He then asked if I could hit a mid 21. I had never broken 22 seconds, but I told him absolutely. From a standing start I scored a 21:47 in the relay and then dropped .83 seconds in my 100 back to take first place. We went on to win County and State.
