My name is Elliott Dye, I am from Granger Indiana and have recently finished my Junior year at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana. I starting swimming in the 4th grade, I had tried other sports in the past like soccer, basketball, and baseball but none of them really worked out and then one of my friends recommended swimming and today I am still swimming. As a swimmer I am always wanting to do better because what I have found to be the best felling is when I do amazing in a race and shock myself and my team. I have found that one of the best motivators in swimming is the teammates, they become your friends and rivals pushing you to work harder and at the same time making swimming fun. At the beginning I like to set an end season goal, for example this year was to make state in the 100 back which I did and surpassed it by making 12th place which I did not think I could do. One of the other best feelings that I have found is when I complete a hard set where I am hurting and just want to go home without skipping any yardage. When you finish a hard set it is one of the best feelings in the world which is why I always try my best to give every workout my all.
Throughout my high school swimming career I have diced that I feel it is best if I try and swim in college and experience what that is like and how it differs from high school in the environment and challenges. I also want a college that will challenge me academically with the career path that I end up choosing. I want my life to be a challenge so that later in life I can face any problem that I might cross and come out of that a better person.
This summer I am going to continue to work hard at practice because my goals for this next year are to break 50 seconds in the 100 back short course yards as well as get the Jr Nationals cut in the 100 back.
