My name is Tanner Sonnek and I am a Breastroke and IM swimmer currently in my senior year at Mankato West High School in Mankato, Minnesota. I only just began swimming in the winter of my freshman year in high school, so I definitely know I can improve vastly from where I am. As soon as I began swimming I knew I had found a sport that I loved and wanted to do for the rest of my life. My outstanding teammates as well as my amazing coaches that I have had the pleasure of having have made the sport of swimming just that much better. I love to practice with my team and look forward even more to compete with them at meets. I was voted on by the team to be a captain last year as a junior and again this year as a senior. I always make sure to push myself as hard as I can in every opportunity that is presented to me because honestly, I like to win, and absolutely hate to lose. I also bring the same attitude to the classroom and make sure that schoolwork comes first. With that attitude I have managed to achieve a 3.8 weighted GPA and was selected to be a part of the National Honor Society. I am currently in AP Government and AP Stats; I have also taken AP US History (sophomore year), AP Art History (junior year), and AP Human Geography (junior year). I have worked from the second I started swimming to become a better swimmer and hoped that the work I was putting in would lead me to be on a collegiate team to be proud of. No matter what team's roster I end up being a part of I guarantee that no one will be more passionate than me while I strive to be the best that I, personally, can be. I believe that I would be an amazing addition to any team willing to let me be a part of their great program and more importantly I can promise to be an outstanding teammate.
